Abstract

Humans are gifted when they born without any physical or mental disability. Also, till the end of their life, if no more physical disorder arises, they are doubly gifted. Unfortunately, this does not happen always. These disabilities have not been completely identified and severely affect life and lead to many problems in most of lives of affected people in terms of income. Also, few exceptions but exception cases are very little compared with the affected crowd. To solve this issue, a biomedical electronic component based on internet of things is proposed. More focus is given to devise a device for the interpretation of sign language of the deaf and dumb people for the interaction of impaired people with the normal people, and the interaction will increase with the aid of IoT-based devices. Further, the visually impaired people will not be able to move freely without assistance. The solution to this issue is presented as an IoT-based moving system. This will definitely be able to promote their life in terms of health and wealth, and this finds an important place to serve society.

National Status

2011 Census of India revealed that more than 26.8 million people in our country suffer by one or more kind of disabilities which is equivalent to 2.6% of the entire population (Mostyn et al., 2018; Yu et al., 2015). Among the total disabled population in this country, male and female percentage are 14.9 million and 11.8 million respectively and the remaining are transgender. The type of speech disability accounts for 7.4% and hearing disability is 18.9%. The high number of disabled is from the state of Uttar Pradesh (About 3.6 million) and notable numbers have been reported in the states Bihar (approx. 1.9 million), West Bengal (Nearly 1.8 million), Tamil Nadu (1.6 million) and Maharashtra (1.6 million) also. Tamil Nadu has much more disabled females than males. Among the states, Arunachal Pradesh 66.6% disabled males and the lowest proportion of female with disability. Disability statistics in Figure 1 indicates that it is rapidly growing for the past few years especially in the urban areas. Disability statistics provide us the information about various kinds of disabilities, the number of people affected and the issues they face during their life. Figure 2 gives the percentage of the disabled population in terms of disability wise and the population of speech and hearing impaired is high and accounts for 26% of the disabled population. One of the major barriers to a person’s life is their inability to interact freely with others. Thus, the problem seems to be predominant and requires fruitful solutions for the betterment of those people. The chart describes the disabled population. People who have hearing and/or speech disorders are suffering from social isolation. Hearing-impaired or speech-disabled persons even lost their life due to their disorders due to bullying which can result in a lowering of self-esteem. The main intent of this project is to provide a standalone device which will bridge the gap between the speech impaired and normal humans which in turn uplifts the life of disabled persons and help towards the growth of society. These statistics have been taken some years ago but the disabled population is not at all diminishing around the globe. Figure 1 interprets the type of disability for the disabled population.
