Abstract

Social media technology has become an intrinsic part of the students' intellectual development. The main purpose of using social media is to get the current information. This study aims to provide the social media influence on students intellectual development. This study adopted survey research method to collect the primary data from 468 students. The influence of social media is explained by R-squared, is very low, and with the help of ANOVA test, the significant value was analyzed.

2. Literature Review

Reed (2022) looked into how social media use affected executive function. The modern generation is reliant on technology, social media users have addictions, they are attention-seekers, and they use the internet. According to the study, using social media will improve academic communication. Researchers examined how social media impacts the mental health of healthcare professionals (Novera, Connolly, & et al., p. 2022). The future effects of social media on health, especially on mental and physical health as well as relaxation, fueling, and diversion, can be both beneficial and dangerous, he discovered during his research.

Soni (2022) investigated the impact of social media tools for strengthening library and information services. The main objectives are to understand users' perceptions of social media and its tools and to provide services through digital channels. The study found that, social media will have an impact on ICT technologies and be useful for connecting people and facilitating communication. Social media platforms are also influencing our current world to move towards digital development. (Pandi, 2020) conducted a research on impact of social media on postgraduate art students at Alagappa University in Karaikudi, India. The study's goal was to examine department-specific replies and discover user perceptions of social media. According to the survey, utilising social media is more advantageous for users since they can access information from all over the world, make connections with people in other parts of the world, and social media ties are crucial in our modern life.

(Ravinder, 2020) explored social media's management potential, objectives, advantages, and role in the field of digital libraries. The objective was to identify the problems that social media users face and potential solutions, as well as how social media impacts education and learning. The study discovered that because social media is one of the most significant platforms for resource sharing, it will have an impact on knowledge, the knowledge society, education, learning, and research. Egyptian universities' social media tactics and student satisfaction were examined by EASA in 2019. According to this study, social media platforms made users happy but people struggled most with social media's privacy features.
