Asmat Ali

Asmat AliAsmat Ali is PhD in Remote Sensing & GIS. He is Director of Cartography & GIS at Survey of Pakistan. He is also Project Director Feasibility Study for Establishment of National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) for Pakistan. In, 1998 he earned Professional Master Degree in Geoinformatics from ITC, University of Twente, Enschede, Netherlands. He got MSc Degree in Geo-information Management from the same university in 2008. Title of his MSc thesis was, POTENTIAL OF PUBIC PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP FOR NSDI IMPLEMENTATION IN PAKISTAN. In 2022, he got PhD degree in Remote Sensing & GIS from PMAS-Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi, Pakistan. Title of his dissertation was SPATIAL DATA INFRASTRUCTURE AS THE MEANS TO ASSEMBLE GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION NECESSARY FOR EFFECTIVE AGRICULTURAL POLICIES IN PAKISTAN. He has several research publications on SDI, GIS, Remote Sensing, & Land Administration. He is on the Reviewer Board of MDPI ISPRS International Journal of Geo-Information (IF 3.4) and Information Development (IF 1.9). In 2008, SDI Asia-Pacific identified him as FOCAL POINT FOR SDI DEVELOPMENT IN PAKISTAN. GSDI awarded him as SDI IMPLEMENTER FROM PAKISTAN in 2016.
