José Aurelio Medina-Garrido

José Aurelio Medina-Garrido is a member of the Department of Business Organization of the University of Cadiz and INDESS (University Institute for Sustainable Social Development of the University of Cadiz). He is Director of the Departmental Section, and he has been Department Secretary. He has research and teaching experience in entrepreneurship and information systems management. He was a Visiting Fellow at the University of Warwick. He has published in the International Small Business Journal, International Entrepreneurship and Management Journal, International Journal of Hospitality Management, and International Journal of Human Resource Management, among other journals. He has published many books and book chapters, including four books on management of organisations and information systems and almost 20 annual editions of the GEM Andalusia Report. He has participated in the Organising and Scientific Committee of various national and international conferences. He has been a senior member of the GEM (Global Entrepreneurship Monitor) team in Andalusia since the beginning of the international project in Spain in 2003. He was a member of the GEM Spain network (with more than 140 researchers) and the GEM Consortium, with more than 80 participating countries. The researcher has been a member of the Andalusian Research Plan Group “Strategic Management and Business Creation” (Ref. SEJ-360) and is currently leading the Group “New Challenges for Business Management: Information Systems, Sustainability and Entrepreneurship (NewReD)” (Ref. SEJ-639). He has participated in Research Projects obtained in public and competitive calls financed by national and European programmes: the National R&D Plan “Dynamic Capacities and Strategic Change” during 1999-2001 and the Plan for the Creation of Cultural Enterprises, during the period 2004-2007. He was the main researcher responsible for the UCA Project “Determinants and socio-economic impact of high potential entrepreneurship” during 2017- 2018. He was the principal researcher of the UCA 2020-2021 Bridge Project “Success factors for high growth start-ups” Ref. PR2020-011. He has participated in 32 Research Results Transfer Contracts, carrying out studies on entrepreneurship and advising on management and information systems for companies. He has coordinated various modules in Official Masters of the University of Cadiz, among which the Official Masters in Business Creation, New Businesses and Innovative Project stands out.
