Top1. Introduction
E-health can be referred to as a process through which healthcare services are being provided with the help of information exchanged through digital platforms. During the process of providing e-health services, an exchange of electronic health-related data is collected, generated and analysed. This can also can be conceived as an umbrella of converging information gathered using information communication technologies such as internet, computer and mobile devices etc., to enhance direct interaction with healthcare service providers, self-care management, education and wellness (Deluca et al., 2000). Healthcare industry is one of the fastest-developing and tremendously important industries for the consumers as well as nations around the world. It has been observed that with the advent of pandemic, e-health has taken a high jump in the form of technology adoption (Forbes, 2020). The disruption brought due to the pandemic and its circumstances has acted as a catalyst for all the digital organizations along with the digital health services. Amidst this situation of uncertainty, healthcare industry is trying to build strategies to reshape their business portfolios after pandemic for bringing financial stability and growth with modern supply chain that also include information and communication technologies (PwC HRI, 2020). According to Alanezi (2021), e-health services are being implemented progressively across the developing and developed countries with its potential to disseminate healthcare services universally. The healthcare professionals are demanding merger of global technologies to increase e-health services and escalate accessibility to the rural areas with faster and accurate diagnosis and treatments (Uluc, 2016). Therefore, virtual health services are developing to reshape the healthcare industry, in which the caregivers are trying to give their services remotely, as Covid-19 has forced everyone to stay at home. ICT innovations are going to bring complete metamorphosis to the traditional healthcare system.
E- health services can be broadly classified in two aspects; one is related to IT enabled and facilitated healthcare services like telemedicine, tele-radiology or tele-diagnostics, whereas the other is related with IT based services of healthcare activities like medical transcription, medical coding, Medical Billing and Electronic medical record (Lahiri, 2013). As per Miah et al. (2017), ICT is going to build a link between the healthcare services accessibility in the urban and remote areas. Pearce and Haikerwal (2011) stated that there are many benefits of implementing ICT in healthcare sector, such as reduced cost, enhanced efficiency, reduction in duplication and better experience of the patients. Hence, the transformation of the traditional healthcare sector with e-health can enhance the complete healthcare services across the world with the help of tools like online consultation, mobile consultation, monitoring of health records and access of real time health data.
