Abstract

This research studies how play theories contribute to social counseling in schools through using methods and strategies of play according to those theories in school social counseling, and this study aims to identify the relationship between play theories and school social counseling, identify the concept of play, its importance, characteristics, and social dimensions, learning about play theories, and the use of play in school social counseling. The important finding of research is that the relationship of play theories with school social counseling appears between theory and practice applying play theories for school social counseling. The recommendations that the authors provide in this research for school social counseling are the necessity of activating the role of playing in school social counseling, increase the use of play counseling as an effective method, and increase the number of social counselors in primary schools to improve their performance in counseling.

Research Hypothesis

The Research Hypothesis can be summarized by answering the following question: What is the Relationship of Play Theories that Linked to Social Counseling within the School Field?

To address this topic, the research has been divided into three main aspects: The first aspect is devote to the concept of play, its importance, characteristics, and social dimensions, and the second aspect is devote to theories of play, while in the third aspect includes the use of play in the aspect of school social counseling.

The Importance of Research and its Objectives

The importance of this study is demonstrated by the fact that the child considers play the central axis of his/her life, so the use of playing techniques makes it easier for the social counselor to create a state of effective communication between him/her and the students during the process of social counseling in an indirect way but likable to them, and contribute to creating a state of positive interaction with instructional games, which are due to the importance of playing in the child's life instead of adopting the traditional method that is based on directing instructions, instructions, and advice to students.

This study aims to identify the relationship of play theories with social school counselor, as well as to identify the concept of play, its importance, characteristics, and social dimensions, and to identify the theories of play, which are classic theories, modern theories, and the opinions of scientists in play, in addition to identifying the importance of using methods and strategies of play in school social counseling, in addition to learning about the benefits of school social counseling by playing games, and at the end of the study we will make recommendations regarding the benefit of the largest number of students from the methods of playing in school social counseling.
