Description & Coverage
Description:

Community development through cultural heritage tourism is a strategy to preserve local traditions while fostering economic growth. By integrating cultural heritage into tourism efforts, communities can share their unique histories, art, and customs with the world while creating sustainable economic opportunities for residents. This approach often involves a delicate balance between conserving heritage sites and promoting their accessibility, ensuring that tourism benefits both visitors and the community. Through thoughtful planning, cultural heritage tourism can become a powerful tool for building stronger, more resilient communities, while celebrating and safeguarding their cultural identity for future generations.

Community Development Insights on Cultural Heritage Tourism explores the impact of cultural heritage preservation in societal development and the hospitality and tourism industry. It examines the use of tourism sites for improved heritage preservation and economic status. This book covers topics such as sociology, ecology, and sustainable development, and is a useful resource for business owners, sociologists, engineers, academicians, researchers, and environmental scientists.

Her PhD examined perspectives on the role of cultural heritage tourism in community development in South Africa, using the Mapungubwe World Cultural Heritage Site as a case study. The focus was on how local communities and heritage custodians can benefit from cultural heritage tourism in heritage sites, as it remains a concern, including the realisation of social and economic development in its true sense.
