Description & Coverage
Description:

Historical and Political Analysis on Power Balances and Deglobalization delves deeper into the author's previous work, Contemporary Politics and Social Movements in an Isolated World, to explore the pressing issues currently faced by the international community. Through an academic lens, this book examines how these issues are reshaping the global order, encompassing supply chains, economics, politics, military alliances, and the future of globalism in a reordered world.

The book delves into an analysis of the existing literature on deglobalization and provides an overview of the current state of the world order. The author explores the factors driving the restructuring of power balances in the international community, using compelling case studies to illustrate these points. The global electoral politics of 2022 are examined, offering a comprehensive analysis of the most impactful elections and their implications for future international cooperation. The shifting supply chains in the new world order are explored, with a particular emphasis on the consequences of deglobalization for underdeveloped nations.

The book then looks ahead to the rise of regional hegemonic blocs, forecasting the potential trajectory of power in a reordered world. The conclusion synthesizes the key findings and offers insights into the future of global power dynamics.

Written by Emily Stacey, Ph.D., an accomplished scholar in the fields of political studies and international relations, this book combines rigorous research and academic expertise. Drawing from her extensive educational background and teaching experience, Dr. Stacey presents a thought-provoking analysis that is sure to appeal to scholars, researchers, and students interested in understanding the complex interplay between power balances and deglobalization in our rapidly changing world.

Editor/Author Biographies
Emily Stacey is a Political Science professor. She successfully completed her dissertation defense in November 2016, and formally graduated with her doctorate in July 2017 from Swansea University (Wales, UK). Emily’s dissertation research focuses on the necessity of bureaucratization in contemporary social movements, namely those using digital technologies to mobilize and sustain dissent. She has participated in the Digital Methods Initiative at the University of Amsterdam (2013) and Oxford University’s Internet Institute Summer Doctoral Program (2014). Emily has published six works thus far, Combatting Internet-Enabled Terrorism (2017), which focuses on the use of digital technologies and the internet by terror organizations, with emphasis on the Islamic State. Emily’s second work, Nationalism, Social Movements, and Activism in Contemporary Society was published in 2018, and analyzes the rising tide of nationalist politics around the world, with emphasis on U.S. politics (the rise of the Tea Party, election of Donald Trump and juxtaposing that against the Black Lives Matter movement). The 2019 and 2020 books are updates to Combatting Internet-Enabled Terrorism and Nationalism, Social Movements, and Activism respectively. Emily has focused on deglobalization and the impending rebalance of power in the global community. Emily is an award-winning political science professor, who was recently awarded the DaVinci Institute’s highest honor as one of two fellows for 2023. You can follow Emily on Twitter at: @politikphd.
