Agamuthu Pariatamby, Professor Agamuthu FASc, is currently at Sunway University. Previously he was Professor in University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur for 44 years. He is appointed as the High Level End Foreign Expert position with the Ministry of Science and Technology, China, and is also visiting professor to Zhejiang University of Technology, Hangzhou, China. The other affiliations of Professor Agamuthu are Chairman of Organization for Climate Change (OFCC), Vice-President/International Advisory Board Member of Society of Solid Waste Management Experts in Asia and Pacific Islands (SWAPI), Fellow of Academy of Sciences Malaysia, Senior Editor in Chief of Waste Management & Research, and Editor of Journal of Material Cycles and Waste Management. Professor Agamuthu has written more than 19 books on waste management and has published more than 450 papers . His research interests include plastics and microplastics, marine debris, plastic biodegradation, municipal solid waste, hazardous waste, industrial waste, agriculture waste, electronic waste, circular Economy, 3R, composting, and anaerobic digestion.
Fauziah Shahul Hamid obtained her PhD in 2010 in Waste Management, and has been affiliated with University of Malaya since 2007, as the academic staff. Her research among others, covers municipal solid waste management, bioremediation, plastic and marine debris, and microplastics. She has been actively publishing many articles in various aspects of waste management in peer-reviewed journals, as well as, contributing her expertise as reviewers to those prestigious journals. Her publications include three chapters in books on waste management and more than 80 papers. Her current research interest are bioremediation of contaminated soil (heavy metal, persistent organic pollutants, microplastics, etc.), studies on abundance, distribution and patterns of marine debris, conversion of waste to value added products, environmental awareness creation and community engagement on waste management issues.
Mehran Sanam Bhatti acquired BSc Hons in Applied Geology in 2014 and Master's degree in Environmental Management in 2019 from University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The research in Master's program was focused on bacterial biodegradation of microplastics. In the last one year, the focus of research and academic writings have been on waste management, marine debris and microplastics.
