Abstract

In recent years, firms have become more aware of the fact that it is no longer sufficient to focus exclusively on economic factors; ecological and social factors must also be considered in order to flourish. The current study conducts a 'Systematic Literature Review' (SLR) on current trends in the field, with a special focus on the link between lean manufacturing and green manufacturing, as well as several sustainability elements. Despite numerous studies on lean and green, no definitive explanation for lean and green exists. The progression & impact of lean manufacturing and green manufacturing are examined in this research. This study examines the parallels and benefits of both lean and green techniques, as well as the synergy effect, application tools, and LM & GM misconceptions. The study will enable businesses to have an improved grasp over usage of different tools and challenges before actually deploying various lean and green approaches.

Introduction

Companies must not only emphasis on their economic performance, but also be preemptive while dealing with ecological and social stance. Businesses are being challenged to use creative and innovative manufacturing techniques that could preserve a healthy equilibrium among the three pillars of sustainability performance: economic, environmental and social. Further as worldwide competition in the business has increased, organizations have been forced to grow and seek more new ways to improve their competitiveness .Further, in recent years, burden to improve the excellence, efficiency & efficacy of products & services has snowballed (Siegel et al. 2019). Industries are also facing difficulties from the worldwide market, counting monetary volatility, governmental impact, economic steadiness, technical invention, governing reform, and ecological density (Issa et al.2010). As per Paul et al. (2014), the cost of energy & resources is continually mounting because of escalating demand & restricted supply that in turn affects the producer's functioning and financial success. Reducing production & procedure leftover is one of the easiest means to stay competitive.
