Abstract

Children with ADHD often have difficulties in their language development. The studies concerning the language development of children with ADHD refer mainly to the field of phonology, semantics, morphosyntax, and mainly pragmatics. However, regardless of the eventual speech delay, a large percentage of children with ADHD show strong problems in oral speech as well. At a young age, children with ADHD are characterized by difficulties in phonetic perception, which may contribute to some of the children's aberrant language development. It appreciates how speech problems relate to auditory discrimination difficulties, with difficulty focusing attention on a specific auditory stimulus. The difficulties they face in their oral language are also present in their written language. This essay studies the context of ADHD and deficits in language development.
