Teaching and learning are essential in providing individuals with the necessary knowledge, skills, and capacities to succeed. One of the fundamental advantages of education is promoting and developing critical thinking skills. The educational procedures facilitate the development of critical thinking skills in students, enabling them to evaluate information, examine novel concepts and viewpoints, and challenge underlying assumptions. It, in turn, cultivates the ability to make reasoned and rational decisions. The acquisition of critical thinking skills not only facilitates students' comprehension and resolution of intricate problems but endows them with the problem-solving aptitude necessary to navigate real-life obstacles proficiently. Practical learning enhances problem-solving abilities by exposing students to authentic circumstances, encouraging the exploration of many solutions and viewpoints while fostering a proactive and resourceful mindset. This technique facilitates the development of students' ability to identify, examine, and resolve issues autonomously and in cooperation with others, equipping them with the necessary skills to tackle real-world challenges. Rubin and Linturi (2001) underscore the significance of active engagement, analytical reasoning, innovation, cooperative resolution of problems, and developing technology in educational practices to equip students for forthcoming transformations. The authors emphasize the importance of experiential learning and its practical application in real-world contexts. This approach promotes flexibility, critical thinking, creativity, and cooperation, which are crucial in moulding the future. In their recent study, Kolade et al. (2022) highlight the significance of incorporating knowledge economy principles in developing nations. This approach fosters long-term economic growth and empowers students and educators to handle crises adeptly, thereby facilitating economic progress and sustainability within their communities. Education and knowledge acquisition are essential in fostering the capacity to make informed decisions by cultivating critical thinking and problem-solving skills, ultimately leading to individual and societal progress. Throughout history, traditional education has predominantly relied on teacher-led approaches. However, the concept of andragogy, which Malcolm Knowles notably advocated, introduced a shift towards self-directed learning for adults. This approach emphasized the significance of relevance in the learning journey, emphasizing autonomy, problem-solving, and active engagement (Fidishun, 2012). The amalgamation of cognitive psychology and technology has facilitated the advancement of learner-centred education, hence facilitating dynamic and personalized learning encounters, fostering global collaboration, and enhancing understanding and memory retention (Ruiz-Martín & Bybee, 2022; Lombardi et al., 2021; Zajda, 2021). In modern education, conventional and student-centred approaches are utilized to cultivate dynamic and varied learning settings that promote active participation. The tactics include experiential learning, project-based learning, adaptive classroom designs, and technology-infused instruction (Brooke & Andrade, 2012). Significantly, history education has shifted from a pedagogical style based around the teacher, primarily concerned with transmitting knowledge, to one that prioritizes active involvement and learner independence. The continuous amalgamation of technology and cognitive psychology findings has resulted in a more dynamic and individualized learning experience. This integration has allowed education to flexibly embrace novel techniques to cater to the developing demands of learners in a constantly changing world.
