Abstract

The rapid integration of digital technology has significantly enhanced patient care, information management, and research that has seen the health sector transformed. As a result of this digital revolution, there are major cybersecurity and privacy issues that have been raised which greatly compromise the availability, integrity, and confidentiality of sensitive health data. The chapter reviews the current state of cybersecurity threats concerning digital health in terms of growth in cyber threats against vulnerabilities of medical devices and risks targeting telemedicine as well as electronic health records (EHRs) in order to protect personal health information (PHI), which is vital for maintaining patient privacy under these circumstances. It discusses the impact on security policies with technical controls needing top security frameworks and regulatory enforcement.
