Abstract

This chapter examines how Action Learning (AL) and Action Research (AR) approaches are being used to decolonize educational systems. In order to create more inclusive and culturally relevant learning environments it emphasizes the significance of tearing down colonial legacies in education and incorporating Indigenous Knowledge Systems (IKS) into curricula. With the help of AR and AL educators and students can co-create knowledge solve real-world problems and advance educational equity. These are reflective participatory methods. The benefits of IKS for diverse learning communities are highlighted as the chapter covers methods for implementing it in educational settings. It also looks at how professional development affects teachers highlighting the necessity of preparing them to act as co-researchers in the decolonization process.
