Coco & Lucas’ kitchen was born out of entrepreneur Diem Fuggerberger’s vision to nourish fussy little eaters. Their product is a range of healthy, nutritious, home cooked frozen meals for kids.
Imagine losing everything not once, not twice but three times. Imagine being threatened, bullied and bereaved all before the age of seven years old. These kind of trying circumstances sound like the beginning of a tragic fairy tale, but it is the true story of Diem Kieu “Yimmy” Fuggersberger, CEO and co-founder of Berger Ingredients and creator of the Coco & Lucas’ Kitchen brand, who overcame incredible odds to survive and thrive.
Looking at the elegant woman in a tailored black dress, Louis Vuitton belt, huge diamond ring and expensive heels who came to meet us for the interview, it is difficult to imagine any struggles in her life. But when she begins to tell her story - that most of us in Australia would not know about or understand – we realise she is a true heroine winning against all odds.
Diem’s parents mulled over the decision to escape by boat for at least six months. It was a big gamble as none of the children could really swim and the risk of the boat sinking was very real. However, the conditions in Vietnam were unbearable and Diem believes in hindsight the decision was right at the time.
