Abstract

In recent years, student activism has emerged as a powerful force for social change. It encompasses the organised efforts of students to advocate for social, political or environmental change. Students get involved for a variety of reasons, including the pursuit of justice, equality and a better future. Student activists use rallies, protests, social media campaigns and awareness-raising initiatives to make their voices heard. By participating in civic processes, voicing concerns, and holding institutions accountable, student activists embody active citizenship. Students advocate for inclusive curricula, diverse faculty representation, and transparent decision-making processes in academic institutions. Democratic change can be arduous due to bureaucracy, power dynamics and resistance from established structures. However, the digital landscape of the 21st century allows for global mobilisation, sharing of ideas and cross-border collaboration between student activists. Student activism focuses on democratic change in academia and contributes to a more just and equitable world
