Abstract

Tourism is a sector strongly marked by different motivations and is a phenomenon of great importance on a global scale. As a result, mass tourism often leads to over-tourism and inconvenience for the residents of tourist destinations. In this sense, the chapter will present a vision of the importance of segmented tourism and the development of route proposals in industrial tourism in the Portuguese context as a differentiating factor for competitiveness and as an articulation with educational concerns. Although the chapter presents an exploratory aspect, the study aims to highlight research paths for studies related to tourist motivations and the possibility of developing sustainable co-creative solutions for the benefit of industrial tourism (and its connection with the education perspective). In an interdisciplinary and exploratory approach, the chapter presents insights for the study of tourism segmentation and value co-creation.
