Abstract

This chapter explores the psychological effects of AI-driven content moderation on users, content creators, and human moderators. While AI enables efficient, large-scale moderation of digital content, its opaque, automated processes often introduce emotional and behavioral challenges. Users may experience frustration and distrust due to AI's lack of transparency, potentially leading to self-censorship or disengagement. Content creators, especially those monetizing their work, face stress and anxiety from unpredictable AI decisions, impacting their creativity and autonomy. Human moderators also encounter psychological strain, caught between AI efficiency and empathy. Addressing algorithmic bias and promoting transparency, fairness, and human oversight are crucial for mitigating these impacts and fostering a healthier digital environment.
