Abstract

This chapter discusses the transformational role of artificial intelligence (AI) across real-world evidence (RWE) analysis throughout health care. It shows how AI (through Machine learning and Natural language processing) is powerful enough to help deal with voluminous, heterogeneous amounts of semantic-rich healthcare data; full-text records coming from clinical notes. Most notably, AI applications such as predictive models, risk stratification and pattern analysis, or adverse event detection (ADE) are reviewed to underscore how new technologies could enable improved data accuracy along with meaningful information extraction in patient care personalization. Importantly, this complete review highlights the promise of AI to modernize health analytics in a truly meaningful sense and achieve better clinical results.
