Abstract

The innovation of smart technologies has made the world into a connected network with “any where, any time, any thing” type of services. The current world has moved to a new environment where more smart gadgets and facilities are used by people. ATM is one such facility where context-aware features may be seen and also exposed to security threats. An intelligent and strong mechanism is needed to protect the ATM from attacks. Apart from the existing alert-based monitoring facility, there is a need to defend against the attackers. Currently, ATMs are said to be Smart ATMs, but really, whether they are smart enough to handle the critical situations is questionable. In this regard, this chapter focuses on designing phases considering the features such as context-awareness, monitoring, decision-making ability, and intelligence.

2. Literature Review

The challenges and requirements to develop a security model for the Pervasive Smart Environment are very difficult as the heterogeneity and complexity of these systems are very high. The security policies developed should operate across the multiple domains of the Pervasive Smart Environment automatically according to the context which should be easier to use and self-adaptive. An intelligent system should support the quality of analyzing the security issues according to the context and should adapt accordingly. Therefore an efficient security model which suitably adapts according to the changes in the environment is needed in the current state of pervasive smart environment security (Tapalina Bhattasali et al, 2017).
