Editor/Author Biographies
Quincy Martin III currently serves as associate professor and coordinator of the higher education administration concentration in the interdisciplinary leadership doctoral program at Governors State University. Spanning nearly 25 years, Dr. Martin has served in various capacities in higher education administration at both the community college and university levels leading multiple units, programs, and functions in student affairs. Dr. Martin has been an active contributor, national award winner, presenter, and leader with the NASPA--Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education as a member of the Board of Directors, reviewer and guest editor for the Journal of Student Affairs Research and Practice, and faculty member and chair for the Mid-Level Administrators Conference. His research interests include higher education and student affairs with special emphasis on student affairs administration and career trajectories to the college and university presidency. Dr. Martin earned his B.M. and his M.Ed. in Counseling and Development from Lamar University, and his Doctor of Education in Adult and Higher Education from Northern Illinois University.

Deborah Baness King is currently affiliated with Governors State University.

Matthew A. Cooney currently serves as associate professor and director of the interdisciplinary leadership doctoral program at Governors State University. Prior to joining Governors State University, Dr. Cooney worked in student affairs research and assessment and academic support programs at multiple universities across the United States. Dr. Cooney’s research foci include college and university presidents, student success initiatives, and contemplative practices in higher education. Dr. Cooney holds a B.A in Spanish from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas; a M.Ed. in Higher Education from Loyola University, Chicago; and a PhD in Higher Education Administration from Bowling Green State University.
