Along with the fast development of network applications, network research has attracted more and more attention, where one of the most important research directions is networked multi-label classification. Based on it, unknown labels of nodes can be inferred by known labels of nodes in the neighborhood. As both the scale and complexity of networks are increasing, the problems of previously neglected system overhead are turning more and more seriously. In this article, a novel multi-objective optimization-based networked multi-label seed node selection algorithm (named as MOSS) is proposed to improve both the prediction accuracy for unknown labels of nodes from labels of seed nodes during classification and the system overhead for mining the labels of seed nodes with third parties before classification. Compared with other algorithms on several real networked data sets, MOSS algorithm not only greatly reduces the system overhead before classification but also improves the prediction accuracy during classification.

According to the sparseness of rating information, the quality of recommender systems has been greatly restricted. In order to solve this problem, much auxiliary information has been used, such as social networks, review information, and item description. Convolutional neural networks (CNNs) have been widely employed by recommender systems, it greatly improved the rating prediction's accuracy especially when combined with traditional recommendation methods. However, a large amount of research focuses on the consistency between the rating-based latent factor and review-based latent factor. But in fact, these two parts are completely different. In this article, the authors propose a model named collaboration matrix factorization (CMF) that combines a projection method with a convolutional matrix factorization (ConvMF) to extract the collaboration between rating-based latent factors and review-based latent factors that comes from the results of the CNN process. Extensive experiments on three real-world datasets show that the projection method achieves significant improvements over the existing baseline.

Audio segmentation and classification are the basis of audio processing in broadcasting industries. A Dual-CNN (Dual-Convolutional Neural Network) method is proposed in this article in which it is possible to pre-train a CNN with unlabeled audio data so as to deal with the scarcity of labeled data. Auto-encoders (including an encoder and a decoder) are utilized, thus the name “Dual.” In the first place, audio sampling points and the derived STFT (Short-Time Fourier Transform) spectrograms pass through their own CNNs. Fusion of the extracted features is then performed. Finally, the merged features are sent to a fully connected network and the classification results are produced via Softmax. Being one of the segmentation-by-classification approaches, our solution also presents a novel smoothing method (SEG-smoothing) in order to deliver the best result of segmentation. A series of experiments have been conducted and their result verifies that the proposed approach for segmentation and classification outperforms alternative solutions.

Artificial intelligence, machine learning, and autonomous technologies provide many economic benefits for the mining industry through cost reduction, efficiency, and improving productivity, reducing exposure of workers to hazardous conditions, continuous production, and improved safety. However, the implementation of these technologies has faced economic, financial, technological, workforce, and social challenges. This article discusses the current status of AI, machine learning, and autonomous technologies implementation in the mining industry and highlights potential areas of future application. The article presents the results of interviews with some of the stakeholders in the industry and what their perceptions are about the threats, challenges, benefits, and potential impacts of these advanced technologies. The article also presents their views on the future of these technologies and what are some of the steps needed for successful implementation of these technologies in this sector.
