Introduction

The recent advancements in the field of Internet of Things (IoT), AI, Big Data, Blockchain, AR/VR, Cloud platform, Quantum computing, Cybersecurity, and Telecommunication Technology (ICT) enabled the promotion of conventional computer-aided industry to Metaverse ecosystem that is powered by AR/VR-driven technologies. In this paradigm shift, the integrated technologies of IoT and AI play a vital role to connect the cyberspace of computing systems and virtual environments. AR/VR supports a huge range of industrial applications such as logistics, the food industry, and manufacturing utilities. IoT aims to improve production throughput, operation efficiency and mitigate machine downtime. Decentralization of AR/VR systems, heterogeneity of AR/VR data, diversity of systems and AR/VR devices, and network complexity are the characteristic features of IoT. These results in numerous challenges including resource constraints of AR/VR devices, poor interoperability, heterogeneity of AR/VR systems, and several privacy and security vulnerabilities in the Metaverse ecosystem.

Nowadays, AR and VR have successfully been applied to various research domains, including computer vision, natural language processing, voice recognition, etc. In addition, AI-based IoT technologies with the AR/VR has made a significant breakthrough and technical direction in achieving high efficiency and adaptability in a variety of new applications, such as smart wearable devices in healthcare, smart automotive industry, recommender systems, and financial analysis. On the other hand, network design and optimization for Metaverse applications address a complementing topic, namely the support of Quantum-based applications through novel networking techniques, including new architectures as well as performance models for Metaverse ecosystem. Quantum computing has paved the way to a plethora of new application domains, at the same time posing, however, several challenges as a multitude of devices, protocols, communication channels, architectures, big data, and middleware exist in multidisciplinary Metaverse ecosystem.


Objective

This book will take you through essential components of Metaverse ecosystem such as concepts, methodologies, technologies, modeling, designs, statistics, implementations, and maintenance. You’ll use real-life technologies such as smart devices, virtual systems, IoT-based technologies, AI-centric solutions, smart sensors, and Telecom network to train and evaluate simple to complex models for building the Metaverse ecosystem.

Target Audience

The book will aim to provide relevant concepts, theoretical frameworks, emerging technologies, analytics techniques, new models, and the latest empirical research findings in the area of smart devices, smart solutions, smart cities, etc. It will be written for professionals who want to improve their understanding of the strategic role of trust at different levels of the information and knowledge society that is a trust at the level of the global communication, economy, education, and organizations as actors in the Metaverse ecosystem. By the end of this book, you’ll be able to learn and design an end-to-end solution of AR, VR, AI, IoT, Cybersecurity, and Cloud apps for applying the best practice solutions to the most common Metaverse problems.

Submission Procedure

Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit on or before February 8, 2023, a chapter proposal of 1,000 to 2,000 words clearly explaining the mission and concerns of his or her proposed chapter. Authors will be notified by February 22, 2023 about the status of their proposals and sent chapter guidelines.Full chapters are expected to be submitted by June 8, 2023, and all interested authors must consult the guidelines for manuscript submissions at https://www.igi-global.com/publish/contributor-resources/before-you-write/ prior to submission. All submitted chapters will be reviewed on a double-blind review basis. Contributors may also be requested to serve as reviewers for this project.

Note: There are no submission or acceptance fees for manuscripts submitted to this book publication, AI-Based Technologies and Applications in the Era of the Metaverse. All manuscripts are accepted based on a double-blind peer review editorial process.
