Introduction

Advances in Human Enhancement Technology over the past 10 years have exploded since 2014 publication of my Global Issues and Ethical Considerations in Human Enhancement Technologies book. Shifts in brain interfaces, neuroscience, artificial intelligence, and robotics only scratch the service. It's all going somewhere, there is an end game, forces are competing for control and domination, new players are bringing new energy to the phenomenon. Yet the stakes for ethics and prospective global impacts of human enhancement could not be higher, or more dire, touching each and every one of us.

Objective

This volume of carefully curated contributions from academics, ethicists, futurists, scholars, scientists, technologists, and critical thinkers from around the world is a snapshot of the time we currently inhabit leading into a future we are rapidly destined to inherit as humans, as human machines, and as machines.

Target Audience

Ethics and Global Impacts of Human Enhancement Technologies will compile research to build on a well-rounded composite of the field of Human Enhancement Technologies. Addressing both present and future concerns, this publication serves as a valuable reference work for researchers, students, professionals, and practitioners involved in computer science and the humanities, as well as many engaged in a humanities approach to artificial life, brain interfaces, biometrics, neuroscience, and robotics.
