Introduction

Assistive technology is a boom for people with disabilities and the elderly. It helps people to live independent and respectful lives. It includes devices and systems that can assist people with low vision/blindness, learning disabilities, behavioural disorders, hearing impairments, cognitive disabilities, and many more. It assists the elderly population in a wide range of activities such as medication management, fall prevention, home monitoring, and much more. It helps in providing social inclusion to such individuals through technology and empowerment.

Objective

• The people with disabilities or the elderly constantly rely on caregivers and family assistance, which can create negative outcomes on their quality of life. An emerging way to overcome these issues is assistive technology-based interventions (AT). • AT can fill the gap between individual capacities or skills and environmental requests. These technologies can also bring about independence and self-determination and provide such people with an active role, positive participation, and enhanced status in being able to achieve daily activities by reducing the roles of their families and caregivers. • Topics that are highlighted within this book include an overview of the different types of diverse assistive technologies for all types of individuals including students with learning disabilities, physical challenges, perceptive disabilities, and aging people. Systematic reviews, empirical contributions, and conceptual chapters shall be the foundation of this volume.

Target Audience

• Students: PG and UG of Medical and technology domains, • Govt. officials • Researchers • Academicians. • StartUP/Entrepreneurs and health workers
