Contributed by communication and other researchers from the US, the 17 chapters in this volume describe workforce diversity programs, curriculum, and degree programs in higher education. They address programs like black male initiative programs, black student-faculty mentorship programs, and the Diverse Voices Conference; instructional strategies, such as narrative and team-teaching, curriculum design for diversity certificates and study abroad, intergroup communication, a counseling curriculum, social justice-oriented curricula, and experiential learning; and foundational concepts and topics that can advance future workforce diversity efforts for transgender students, professional development programs and initiatives, the organizational culture and climate in medical schools, the use of virtual technology, understanding disability and diversity, and the field of global strategic communication.

This work is highly readable. There are many personal anecdotes interleaved among the professional discussions. The writing provokes introspection in the reader. For example, in chapter six, where there is a discussion about racial dynamics, a light is shined on the darkness of learned racism in family, media, school, and day-to-day relationships. The reader is exposed to the ideology of white supremacy, repressive tolerance, and microaggressions. In short, this reference would be an important addition to corporate, public, community college, and university libraries.
