Reviewer Roles
Associate Editor
Associate Editors are the highest layer of the peer reviewer roles. These individuals support a higher level of review and provide recommended editorial decisions to the editors. Associate editors also have access to the completed review evaluations from the first round of peer review to provide a more well-rounded evaluation for the journal leadership. Associate Editors are expected to complete 3-5 timely and quality reviews per year. Example of a Quality Associate Editor Evaluation
Editorial Review Board Member
Editorial Review Board Members are the full-time reviewers for the first round of the peer review. Once an individual is an Editorial Review Board Member, their name appears on the journal webpage. These members are expected to complete 3-5 timely and quality reviews per year. If these individuals provide timely and quality word, Editor(s)-in-Chief can promote them to an Associate Editor level. Example of a Quality Editorial Review Board Evaluation
Ad-Hoc Reviewer
Ad-Hoc Reviewers support with the first layer of the peer review on an as-needed basis, oftentimes supporting with manuscripts in more niche areas. Due to some journals having an abundance of ad-hoc reviewers, these individuals’ names do not formally appear on the webpage. Upon the completion of 2-3 quality and timely reviews for the journal, an editor can assess the Ad-Hoc Reviewer’s work and potentially promote them to be an Editorial Review Board member.

Peer Review

The peer review process is the driving force behind all IGI Global books and journals. All IGI Global reviewers maintain the highest ethical standards and each manuscript undergoes a rigorous double-blind peer review process, which is backed by our full membership to the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). The full publishing process and peer review are conducted within the IGI Global eEditorial Discovery® online submission system and on average takes 30 days. Learn More

IGI Global book and journal editors and authors are provided written guidelines and checklists that must be followed to maintain the high value that IGI Global places on the work it publishes. IGI Global reviewers are an important component of the scholarly process and therefore are instructed to provide comprehensive, detailed appraisals of work that they are reviewing to assist the author in improving the quality and usability of the presented research. It is the policy of IGI Global to maintain high ethical standards in all publications. These standards pertain to all books, journals, chapters, and articles accepted for publication.
