Introduction

The publication is about the necessity to transform the public utilities systems towards sustainability and efficiency. The aim of this publication is to investigate the performance management process of public utility systems and evaluate the efficiency of public utilities in order to propose potential improvements. The book will encourage public utilities to create more efficient and effective management systems and improve their performances. Additionally, it will provide the government with a systemic approach to public utilities systems transformation and development. Further, the proposed publication put emphasis on the necessity to overview the economics of sustainable development, with a focus on environmental protection management, as well as, renewable energy sources and energy production and efficiency. Due to the significant climate changes, it is also important to assess the intensity and severity of these impacts on the efficiency of public utilities systems. Hence, the publication will encourage experts, scientists, and practitioners to deeply think and analyze the problems of public utilities systems transformation and development and to propose multidimensional approaches to efficient management of these processes.

Objective

Much remains to be known about public utilities systems organization, efficiency, management, legislation, practices, and solutions worldwide, as well as, the implications for sustainable development in different countries. Thus, a better understanding of the different management practices in public utilities across different contexts is needed to assess their impact on efficiency and sustainability, especially in the changed climate conditions. Authors of this publication will discuss the importance of efficient management of public utilities systems, with respect to the exchange of best practices and knowledge. The publication will certainly add value in sharing knowledge among different stakeholders to provide answers to the ongoing concerns in the changed climate conditions regarding the transformation, development, and sustainability of public utilities systems.

Target Audience

The target audience for this publication with be management of public utilities, as well as professionals and researchers in the field of performance management, environmental protection, sustainable development, engineering. Moreover, this publication will support policy-makers and government authorities in crafting strategies, laws, standards and procedures in the field of public utilities systems management.

Submission Procedure

Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit on or before September 21, 2022, a chapter proposal of 1,000 to 2,000 words clearly explaining the mission and concerns of his or her proposed chapter. Authors will be notified by October 5, 2022 about the status of their proposals and sent chapter guidelines.Full chapters are expected to be submitted by December 4, 2022, and all interested authors must consult the guidelines for manuscript submissions at https://www.igi-global.com/publish/contributor-resources/before-you-write/ prior to submission. All submitted chapters will be reviewed on a double-blind review basis. Contributors may also be requested to serve as reviewers for this project.
