IGI Global's Acquisitions Team provides resources for new authors and editors

Looking for Tips on How to Publish a Successful Publication?

By Marshall Myers on Jun 4, 2019
As part of IGI Global’s commitment to help progress quality research and serve the academic community, our Acquisitions Team is holding regular publishing workshops that benefit both early career and more seasoned researchers.

In the age of “publish or perish,” IGI Global frequently interacts with researchers and academics looking to publish their research. We understand that publishing is a critical element to tenure, promotions, research funding, and academic portfolios, and we strive to make the overall publishing process as easy as possible for new and experienced authors and editors, and especially want to support those who might be finding the various steps toward publication a bit rocky.

In our most recent publishing webinar, "Best Practices for Pitching Your Book Concept to an Academic Publisher," we outline how to overcome common pitfalls and challenges during the first step of publishing: pitching your book proposal to a publishing house.

Throughout the webinar, the Acquisitions Department identifies key areas most individuals overlook when attempting to pitch their book project idea to a publisher. They provide tips on how to craft an intriguing title, build a robust contributor plan, identify the target audience, recommendations on timing, and more, providing resources to ensure the creation of a winning book proposal that will set the foundation for a high impact publication.

This inconsistency leads to unfair penalties in the criminal justice system, where individuals in legal states can still face federal prosecution.
