Can Augmented Reality Train New Doctors and Nurses In Time?

Hundreds of Thousands of Healthcare Professionals are Leaving the Industry

By IGI Global on Feb 21, 2023
Doctor sitting at a desk with a laptop The global pandemic has taken a hard toll on the healthcare industry as doctors and nurses are quitting their jobs in an industry exodus due to severe burnout. Estimates report that nearly 250,000 healthcare professionals combined from the United States and the United Kingdom have left their jobs, and many name poor working conditions and underpayment as their reasons.
Doctor and nurse shortages are reaching record levels, and some medical educators are turning to virtual and augmented reality to train new healthcare professionals quickly and efficiently. This includes new immersive reality learning technology that combines visual, virtual, wearable, biometric, and haptic feedback devices to provide a competency-based learning experience.
