Within the last decade, eSports have become a worldwide phenomenon among all ages, and although its popularity is constantly on the rise, new research accessibility and availability in this field is still working to catch up with the times. Because of this ever-growing demand, Dr. Sharon Andrews and Dr. Caroline M. Crawford from the University of Houston-Clear Lake (USA), together with IGI Global, set out to launch a gold open access (OA) journal publication that provides a forum for researchers and practitioners to openly share peer-reviewed leading-edge knowledge in the area of eSports.
In 2021, the
International Journal of eSports Research (IJER) was introduced and since then has been serving as a significant bridge between such research and practice through the publication of timely research articles, theoretical critiques, conceptual frameworks, and book reviews related to the development and evaluation of current research, advances, and practices within and surrounding the field of eSports. Innovative topics include networking, gaming, computer information systems, game development, simulations, psychological aspects, and media. Articles that are accepted for publication within this journal following the double-blind peer review process are immediately accessible online, often in as little as 14 days.
IJER is actively inviting esteemed researchers in the field of eSports to submit their high-quality research articles for publication consideration. In celebration of IJER’s launch and making OA publishing as attainable as possible for interested contributors, IGI Global is pleased to announce that throughout the months of July and August (up through August 31st, 2021)
the open access Article Processing Charge (APC) for publishing in IJER will be discounted down from US $750 to US $375 for any manuscripts submitted during that timeframe*. More information regarding APCs and what they cover can be found
here.

*Authors (or their funding body) will not be asked to provide payment of the APC fee (directly to the publisher) until AFTER their article manuscript has gone through the full double-blind peer review process and the Editor(s)-in-Chief at his/her/their full discretion has decided to accept the article manuscript based on the results of the double-blind peer review process. (Please Note: No APC will be requested for rejected manuscripts and also there is absolutely NO correlation between the APC (Article Processing Charge) being paid by the author and the results of review process outcomes).
