IGI Global announces ORCID iD integration to increase researcher credibility

IGI Global Strengthens Researcher Discoverability With ORCID iD Integration

By IGI Global on Nov 7, 2018
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Hershey, PA, November 7, 2018 - IGI Global is pleased to announce its new integration with ORCID, a non-profit organization that is dedicated to sharing information globally by enabling a transparent and trustworthy connection between researchers, their contributions, and affiliations. This integration allows editors, contributors, and reviewers to connect or create their own unique and persistent identifier – an ORCID iD (Open Researcher and Contributor ID) — to increase the visibility of their research, receive appropriate credit and recognition for their work, and manage one central location that showcases all their research activities.

Lindsay Wertman, IGI Global’s Managing Director, describes this new integration, “We are thrilled that our authors, editors, contributors, and reviewers can now more easily verify and authenticate their IGI Global publishing, and review records through this integration and partnership with ORCID. We view this opportunity as just one more way to support the academic community by bringing a higher level of recognition and discoverability to their work.”

Now, IGI Global contributors can take advantage of this recent integration with ORCID. When an IGI Global contributor publishes a book, journal, chapter, article, or conducts review activities for journals, IGI Global will collect the ORCID iD of members to verify the identity of the iD, tying the published work or journal manuscript review to the individual. In addition, to ensure a user-friendly process, authentication is provided within IGI Global’s submission system, the eEditorial Discovery® System, and also on the IGI Global Online Bookstore. Additionally, the unique iD will be displayed next to the individual’s name in print and electronic publications.

For reviewers, ORCID is partnered with Publons to enable users to export their verified review history, from Publons to their ORCID profile. Therefore, when a user submits a journal manuscript review into the eEditorial Discovery®online submission system, they will receive a review receipt that will support the verification of reviews through Publons.

In addition to this new ORCID integration, another way IGI Global is supporting the academic community, is through the offering of a new InfoSci®-Journals’ OA Fee Waiver (offset model) Program. This program caters to increased visibility of researchers’ work by waiving the OA article processing charge (APC) for journal articles that are submitted (and ultimately accepted following the double-blind peer review) by students, faculty members, and researchers at institutions currently subscribed to IGI Global’s InfoSci-Journals database.

The InfoSci-Journals database provides access to 24,000+ peer-reviewed articles, and more than one million reference citations sourced from 185+ scholarly journal, spanning 11 core subject areas, including: business and management, computer science and information technology, education, engineering, and social sciences and humanities. The database hosts researcher-friendly features which includes absolutely no DRM. or embargo of content, as well as unlimited simultaneous users, formatted citations with the ability to export to RefWorks and EasyBib, making the full-text PDF and HTML e-journals in this collection a must-have for all academic and research institutions. Recommend this database to your library to start benefiting from the rich content found within this collection.

Additionally, IGI Global offers researchers with key publishing benefits, such as free publishing and promotional services (no fees of any kind), royalties for each book published, quick turnaround times, indexing potential in prestigious indices, and more. If you are interested in submitting a book proposal, please access the submission form here, or learn more about IGI Global’s publishing process.

Despite increasing acceptance and legalization of cannabis in some US states, disparities persist in federal marijuana laws, exacerbated by the Biden administration's classification of cannabis as a Schedule I drug. This inconsistency leads to unfair penalties in the criminal justice system, where individuals in legal states can still face federal prosecution.
