With a career spanning back to the 1990s, Dr. Anastasius Moumtzoglou has been dedicated to exploring the intersection of healthcare quality and e-health. In 2010, he published his first book on this subject, solidifying his expertise in the field.
Dr. Moumtzoglou's book,
Quality Assurance in the Era of Individualized Medicine (ISBN: 9781799823902) published by IGI Global, addresses a crucial issue in contemporary medical practices. It sheds light on the fact that many medical decisions are made without sufficient data for a large portion of the population. However, the growing capacity to gather and apply such information brings hope. As medicine becomes more personalized, the book emphasizes the vital role of health IT and data interoperability in delivering quality healthcare. Below you will find Dr. Moumtzoglou simple guide to some of the applications of the book, as well as their personal insights into this research.
Dr. Moumtzoglou is a Former Executive Board Member of the European Society for Quality in Health Care, President of the Hellenic Society for Quality & Safety in Health Care. He hold BA in Economics, MA in Health Services Management, MA in Macroeconomics, PhD in Economics. He teaches the module on quality at the graduate and postgraduate levels. He has also written three Greek books, the only ones with Greek references. The first deals with "Marketing in Health Care", the following with "Quality in Health Care," and the third with "Quality and Patient Safety in Health Care."
Dr. Moumtzoglou also edited these high-quality IGI Global books:
He is the Editor-in-Chief of the "Advances in Healthcare Information Systems and Administration"(AHISA) book series and the International Journal of Reliable & Quality in Healthcare (IJRQEH). He has also served as the scientific coordinator of research programs in Greece and participated as a researcher in European research programs. In 2004, he was declared "Person of Quality" concerning Greece.
Dr. Moumtzoglou has been recognised for academic excellence in this field of study.
I was declared "Person of Quality" concerning Greece in 2004. Moreover, in 2011, my research received the Highly Commended Award by Emerald. In 2013, my article entitled "Quality Implications of the Medical Applications for 4G Mobile Phones" was included among the Winners of the Fifth Annual Excellence in Research Journal Awards of IGI Global. In 2023, the Academician, Economist and Politician (Honorable Member of the House of Representatives, Pennsylvania At-Large Representative, in Greece, as an American Citizen Abroad, between 2016 - 2021) Professor Vasileios Gikas highlighted my scientific research as a paradigm where knowledge from various disciplines is synthesised and shared to improve healthcare's appropriateness and safety. According to Professor Vasileios Gikas, the research shifts the locus of innovation from solution novelty to the study of class problems and focuses on the patient. Moreover, the cognitive frames employed to understand the conditions and actions lead to innovation, as they confront uncertainty versus facilitated intersections, study heuristics (e.g., analogical reasoning), and reshape the discipline of creativity focusing on outcome-oriented design. Simultaneously, my research encompasses the application domain, which spans undergraduate and extended degree program students, graduate students of healthcare quality and health services management, healthcare managers, health professionals, researchers, professors, and academicians.
